All the cool kids had their artwork on display in this awesome show curated by Hennessy Youngman at the Family Business Gallery in Chelsea. iLikeZach, a modest observer and cool points holder in his own right, decided to talk about himself in the third person and film some of the awesomeness. The actual name of the show is “It’s a small, small world” by the way but I didn’t know that till I saw this other dude’s youtube video about it. Whatever. Since it was so crowded, I’m pretty happy that I got a chance to show some of the footage from inside the gallery itself as well as an intimate discussion about Tommy Coleman’s piece in particular. I caught a lot of Spank Rock performing out front as well. It was pretty magical for an art show opening. I see vaginas in the sky, folks. Vaginas in the sky… ILikeZach is the illest dude on the planet Earth!

I think I can use one of his quotes to try to describe the attitude on this track: “fuck what all them hater say! Can’t see us ’cause the trophy in the way. G-MEN Whatup!”. This track is, as Soulebrity puts it, for “Real Fans Only”. And it’s AWESOME!!! So far Both Michael Strahan and Justin Tuck have tweeted their agreement. Mindy Wyatt Gallery, 814 Broadway, Floor #2, New York, NY

iLikeZach.com in collaboration with Mindy Wyatt Gallery in NoHo, New York City are extremely proud to present a collection of paintings by 18 of the Greatest Artists in the City of New York at Mindy Wyatt Gallery (814 Broadway, 2nd Floor) entitled, “Like Me Now”. An opening reception will be held on Friday September 9th from 6-8:30 p.m. The show is curated by Devin Kyle Cuthbertson, Jose Baez , SCRiBE The Verbalist, and Kenrick Zachary Theodore Cabey I (Founder of iLikeZach.com).

In a moment of philosophical clarity, the late Sarah Lawrence professor and philosopher, Joseph Campbell once said: “Myths are Public Dreams” and “Dreams are Private Myths”.

What happens when an artist’s private narratives enter the conscious realm of others, when myths become public and are presented as “Artwork”, perhaps even displayed at a gallery show?

“LIKE ME NOW” is the primal howl of artistic expression. This show is an attempt to demonstrate the fundamental creative moment living in Art, simultaneously demanding and pleading for its survival among the ranks of the beautiful. We will not celebrate the brushstroke, the chromatic scheme, or the provenance of individual pieces here. Instead, 18 New York artists will vindicate the aesthetic determinism existent in their very souls with their work for YOU, their audience. Like Me Now

“LIKE ME NOW” will include paintings by:
Kenrick Zachary Theodore Cabey I ,Devin Kyle Cuthbertson, Scribe the Verbalist, Jose Baez , Ron Pazo, Joe Randazzo, Ford Guarino, Brittany Maldonado, Amy Ruhl, Julian Lynch, Kwanzaa, Soulebrity, Michael Ahn, PMD (Pimp McDaddy), CY Gavin, Alex Pawlicki, Big Val, Gerald Luvell and Alec Martin.

You and your guests are invited. Arrive at 6:00 sharp to view a secret performance by Iyadede (ThatGirlFromAfrica.com)

OFFICIAL CLOSING RECEPTION WILL TAKE PLACE SATURDAY OCT. 1ST, FROM 6PM TO 8PM @MINDY WYATT GALLERY.

Manuel Silva and SCRiBE The Verbalist have produced something really amazing with “Summer in NYC Pt II”. It’s a neo-nostalgic followup to Silva’s part 1 record of the same name, and can be found on his recently released mixtape, “The Dopeness Pt II”.

Manuel Silva here demonstrates a signature integrity of content, whimsically painting the picture of a New York Summer with enough brutal honesty to exclaim in the first verse, “It must be said, summertime is just ’bout lies and sex”. “Urbanfilmmaka”, Elijah White, provides the videotape, as it were, as director of the music video project. He competently depicts Manuel Silva with a grand smile on his face, sharing his complex love of the “hot city streets mid-July”. I love that graffiti background!

The recent buzz about this video seems to have taken special care to tip its cap to the track’s feature verse provided by Bronx wordsmith, SCRiBE The Verbalist. His animated tale of “roof-top barbecues and three-month love” celebrates the ephemeral NYC summer excitement chase, when the daylight hours seem to stretch to the will of its pleasure-seeking youth. True to form, SCRiBE once again captures an experience indigenous to New York life; young hip-hop lovers left behind in New York during the annual exodus of the city’s wealth to the Hamptons, the far corners of the jet-setter globe or, dare I say it, the Jersey Shore.

Watch the video. Like it. Then “Share” it with a friend from someplace else, another city or state or even country. See how they feel after you’ve invited them to “spend muggy summer in the city that I’m from” – iLikeZach
